Cody Road in LeClaire includes many historic buildings dating back to the mid to late 1800s that are included in the Cody Road Historic District, a National Historic District. Many structures now house unique retail shops, antique stores, galleries and a host of other local businesses. The Buffalo Bill Museum and River Pilot's Pier, LeClaire Community Library, and entertainment venues, including a brewery and distillery in newer buildings are also within this district.
Local artists provide classes and sell and display original artwork, including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, arts and crafts. Live local music can be heard at several venues. The City and private entities embrace new cultural industries by encouraging the location and clustering of “boutique” businesses within the designated district. Cooperative efforts between the Chamber, City’s Tourism Board, and the Marketing Alliance help advertise and market the area. The LeClaire Information Center is in the heart of downtown.
The Cody Road Cultural and Entertainment District was designated a Cultural & Entertainment District in 2007 and re-designated in 2018.
