DES MOINES – The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, has selected the winning entries for the “Celebration of Iowa: Agriculture Art Exhibition.” First place, second place, third place and finalists were chosen in adult and youth divisions and were eligible to win cash prizes.
In the Adult Division, Naomi Friend of Story City took first place for her cyanotype “Red Angus Cows.” Allen Hendrickson of Osceola and Abigail Livingood of Clive took second and third place, respectively.
In the Youth Division, Theo Whitehead, 14, of Des Moines won first place for his photograph “At Work.” Emma Dochterman, 17, of North Liberty and Joanna VanDeWalle, 7, of Dixon, took second and third place.
The exhibition entries were judged based on concept as well the level of aesthetic and technical quality. The contest challenged artists to reflect on
Iowa's role as a leader in agriculture through their respective mediums.
Winners and finalists will have their work on display until Oct. 31 at Cafe Baratta’s in the State Historical Museum of Iowa, 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines.

Adult Division

- Finalist: Brittany Tangen, Kamrar

Youth Division
- First Place: Theo Whitehead, Des Moines
- Second Place: Emma Dochterman, North Liberty
- Third Place: Joanna VanDeWalle, Dixon
